The process of distinguishing actual hunger from boredom may seem easy, but the two are more connected than you might think. Many of us rarely experience real hunger. Sure we may think we are hungry, because we haven’t eaten in a few hours, but this isn’t really hunger. So if you find yourself overindulging during the day, you might want to follow these steps to curb your boredom and limit the calories that you consume. Being busy will not only keep you active, but also keep you from snaking. Here are just a few helpful tips.

If your evenings often consist of lounging on the couch and watching television, then chances are that you are probably over-snacking too. Television and bad eating habits normally go hand in hand.

Many women munch on chips, cookies and soda while watching TV. However, if you become busier, you can curb these bad eating habits.

Instead of lounging in front of the TV, you can walk in place during the program or lift small weights. This will keep you occupied and away from the refrigerator.

Water is known to be so good for dieters, because it gives you a full feeling without any calories. Many times you aren’t actually hungry; instead you are simply thirsty.

Thirst is often mistaken for hunger. So the next time you have a craving, you should try drinking water to see if that gets rid of your hunger. Once you drink water, you should wait at least thirty minutes until you decide if your hunger is real.

It is easy to confuse boredom as hunger, but it will only lead to excess weight. If you want to live a healthier lifestyle, you must become more active and eliminate downtime from your day.
