Nothing says summertime like a cocktail by the poolside but traditional drink mixes that you buy in a bottle are loaded with excess calories, sugars, dyes, and preservatives. No one needs all of that! Instead, here are some easy breezy tasty skinny cocktail recipes to mix up at home.

margarita-cocktailCucumber Orange Margarita

In a cocktail shaker muddle 5 cucumber slices with 1oz lime juice. Add .75 oz silver tequila, .75 oz orange flavored vodka, and a splash of tangerine or orange juice.

Top with ice and give it a good shake. Strain into a glass with ice and garnish with cucumber slices and an orange wheel before enjoying this light, summery margarita knowing you’re going big on flavor but oh-so-low on calories.

In a cocktail shaker combine 1.5 oz gin, .75 oz blackberry liquer (sometimes called creme de mure), 4 blackberries, .75 oz lemon juice, and 1 oz simple sugar syrup.

Top with ice and shake this mixture vigorously. Pour the whole thing, ice and all, into a glass and sip this sweet but light fruity mixture that will keep you wanting seconds.

In a mixing glass or a cocktail shaker, muddle 1/2 cup fresh grapefruit chunks, 1 basil leaf, .75 oz fresh lime juice, and .75 oz simple sugar syrup.

Add 1 oz pink grapefruit flavored vodka and 1oz gin to muddled mix. Top with ice and shake before straining into a martini glass.

Garnish this drink with a grapefruit wedge and a basil leaf for a tart and refreshing cocktail that’s much lighter than it tastes.

In a mixing glass, muddle 4 blackberries, 10-12 mint leaves, 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice, and 1 oz simple sugar syrup.

Add 2 oz silver rum and top with crushed ice and a splash of seltzer water. Give the mix a stir and garnish this sweet, fizzy summery creation with some mint leaves and fresh blackberries.

In a blender, place 1/2 cup frozen pineapple chunks, 1/2 cup pineapple juice, 1 oz rum, and 1/4 cup light coconut milk.
