Tips to Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle When Busy

Between work, husband, children, housework and girlfriends, many women barely have any time left to themselves. All these responsibilities can cause stress and lead to health problems in the long run. Here are eight tips for simple and easy things that you can do to maintain a healthy lifestyle and manage your level of stress.

drinking-waterDrink water:

Most people do not get enough water each day and dehydration could cause many problems whether it is headaches, stress and even tension.

Add a slice of lemon or cucumber in a glass bottle and carry it with you at all time. Make sure to drink at least one glass in the morning, it will help clear your system and increase your metabolism.

stretching-armsStretching in the morning:

Do leg, neck and back stretches first thing when you get up.

It will only take you a few minutes and it will extend your muscles, properly wake up your body, increase blood circulation and oxygen flow.

Breakfast-in-bedBreakfast:

Consider it a magic meal. Whether you are trying to lose weight or simply avoid snacking, eating breakfast will help you either way. It will give you an energy booster and help you avoid snacking before lunch time.

If you don’t have time in the morning, keep things like oatmeal, milk, or cereal in your office and have breakfast when you get to work.

running-natureUse your lunch hour wisely:

You can socialise with your colleagues over lunch instead of eating by yourself. Or use the time to work out or go for a run.

Alternatively, you could use the time to get some errands out of the way such as paying the bills, making a grocery list or simply read a book you enjoy.

fruits-vegetablesAdd fruits and vegetables to your diet

How about throwing a grapefruit in your purse, decorating your desk with an apple or storing dried figs in your office drawer?

Fruits are high in antioxidants, vitamins and fibres and are a good use of calories when eaten in moderation.

This will help you stray away from the fatty snacks and give you a regular dose of healthy nutrients.

Nothing improves health, reduces stress and regulates eating as a good night sleep. Try to get to sleep at the same time daily.

If you feel like you are not getting enough sleep try taking a 20 minutes nap once a day.

Sodas contain many unhealthy chemicals and caffeine can cause stress and anxiety.

If you must get caffeine, try mixing with a decaffeinated product, you can also switch to teas that are generally healthier for you.

Don’t underestimate the benefits of this simple act. A 20 minute walk would not take away time from doing other things.

On the other hand, it gives you the chance to have a leisurely exercise, to relax and enjoy a breath of fresh air, while at the same time distressing and spending quality time with your children.
