Quick Tips for a Whiter Smile

Wouldn’t you love to have the perfect smile? While you can’t do much at home about the shape of your mouth, or your teeth, you can do something about the colour of them. With a few tips, you could get that whiter smile, and let it glisten in the photos.

Watch Out for Lipstick on the Teeth

Choose lipstick that isn’t going to mark the teeth. This can be really difficult when you’re buying in the shop, and is often a case of trial and error. Lip glosses are usually much better than anything else.

The colour will also affect how white your teeth look. If your teeth have a dull grey tone, you want to avoid bright red lipstick. Stay away from deep shades if your teeth look yellow.

Use Food to Improve the Colour

You will be surprised at how the colour on your teeth can change due to the foods that you eat. Berries and soy sauce are problematic for staining the enamel, whereas celery, carrots and apples are excellent for getting the white look again.

You need to be careful how long you let them sit on your teeth though, as they can burn through the enamel and cause tooth decay.

Choose Off-Colour Tops

Your teeth will stand out if your top is white. Instead, opt for an off-white colour, whether it is yellow, grey or pink.

Your teeth will start to blend in with your clothes, so people are less likely to notice the issue. Cream tops are also excellent for hiding the fact that your smile isn’t quite as white as it could be.

Stop Letting Drinks Touch Your Teeth

Remember that some foods stain your teeth? Well the same thing happens with drinks. Wine or juices that have a red colour to it are more likely to lead to stained teeth.

While you don’t want to give them up completely, you need to limit the amount that they touch your teeth. The best thing to do is switch to drinking through a straw where possible.

Look Out for the Whitening Toothpaste

There are plenty of companies now trying to help you get that white smile. Toothpaste companies are no different, and offer a range of products to help you reach your end goal.

You do need to use them on a bi-daily basis, but you should see results within 14 days.

If you don’t, try a different brand. You can also use baking soda with your toothpaste to get a brighter smile. You could add a bit of lemon juice but watch out for the acidic levels. Lemon juice can lead to tooth decay.

Invest in the Right Toothbrush

Sometimes it is all about the toothbrush that you use. Invest in one that is electric. It cleans your teeth better and gets into all the hard to reach places.

You will also want to brush your teeth more because it is easier to do. They don’t have to cost a fortune, and the heads need replacing every three months or so.
