Most Common Nightmares and Their Meanings

Every woman has at least one nightmare in their life. Sometimes these are one-night, make your skin shiver dreams while others are recurring nightmares that affect you during your waking hours and into your future. There is generally a reason for someone to have a nightmare; it is the subconscious trying to get through. Here are some of the more common nightmares that women have and the meanings behind them.

Where You Are Shot

You usually wake up just as the gun goes off but it still feels real enough. Nightmares involving being shot – or sometimes beaten to death – is a sign that there is confrontation somewhere in your life.

This could be with a partner, a parent or even at the workplace. Your subconscious is telling you that you need to deal with that confrontation.

Teeth Falling Out

This is arguably the most common nightmare that women suffer from. It usually happens due to rejection (or fear of being rejected). The teeth are linked to attraction, which is linked to being approved or rejected.

The rejection in real life doesn’t have to be linked to appearances. It could be about finances, a job promotion or a special place in someone’s life.

Being Trapped Somewhere

This is not a sign that you are claustrophobic. Many people have a dream that they are trapped, whether they are trapped in the house or in a cave. It comes from that fear that you are trapped somewhere in your life.

This could be your job, in a loveless relationship or in a city that you hate. You may just be fed up of the same daily routine of going to work, coming back and then going to sleep.

Being Chased

If you are being chased in a dream, whether by an animal or person, it is a sign that you are running from something in real life.

This could be an insecurity or fear that you will fail at something or that you are running away from confrontation or sticking up for yourself.

The Car Is Out of Control

Have you ever had that dream where the car won’t stop or you have no control over the steering?

This isn’t a sign that your own car is going to do that – although no-one will judge you for checking the brakes before you get on the highway! In the dream, the car is something else in your life that you have no control over, even though you want or need it.

You Can’t Breathe

Breathing is your life force so when you can’t breathe in your dream, your subconscious is sending you an important message.

It is telling you that you need to slow down and let your body rest!

You Die

It doesn’t matter how it happens, dreaming that you die is a scary thought. The good news is that this isn’t a bad thing!

Like the death card in the tarot cards, it is a sign of change.
