Tips for Relaxing Outdoors

The sun is shining, the birds are singing and that cool summer breeze makes it perfect for sitting outside and relaxing. However, not everyone can do this. There is always something on our minds, whether it is a bill that needs paying or someone needs phoning. You do deserve some time to yourself and the chance to relax outside and here are some tips to help with that.

Turn Off Your Phone!

Unhook your landline – if you still have one – and turn off the mobile. It is also worth turning off all forms of communication and technology.

This is time for you and you do not want to be interrupted by a phone call or text from a loved one or an email from work.

With the phone off, you will also be less tempted to find out what your friends are up to.

Make Your Garden the Perfect Spot

Make your garden, or wherever you decide to relax, the perfect relaxation spot. This involves having sights that you want to see, like the beautiful flowers, and sounds that you want to hear.

You could consider an outdoor water feature to help with the relaxation. By being somewhere that you want to be, you will allow your mind to shut off and your muscles to relax.

Decide to Take an Hour Away

You can’t deal with everything all the time. Instead of trying to, agree that you will take an hour or so away from the computer, the TV and your life.

If you let your brain know that this is a chance to relax and not worry about anything, it is more likely to oblige.

Have a Comfortable Seat

You can’t relax if you are not comfortable, right? Make sure the seating you have is comfortable. You don’t have to go out and buy special chairs and table sets for the outdoors.

The grass is perfect! If you don’t have any grass, consider putting a thick blanket down to offer your backside some comfort.

As you become more comfortable, your muscles will relax and allow you to switch off and enjoy your time outside.

Read a Book

If you’re not very good at sitting in silence, take a book out with you. It could be one that you have read time and time again but still enjoy or a new one by your favourite author.

You may just want to read a page before putting it down and looking at the sky, thinking about the characters that you have read about.

Have a Drink

Always take a glass or bottle of water with you when relaxing. The sun is dehydrating and that will cause your muscles to dry out and tense.

You can opt for flavoured water or juices too but pure water is the best for your health and weight.

Think About Climate Changes

While it may be sunny now, what will it be like in a couple of hours time? Make sure you are ready for the changing climate and temperatures with a jacket or jumper.

While you’re not wearing it, you could use it as a pillow to lay back and help you relax.
