Are you thinking about raising a family? Maybe you have children of your own who have left the nest. There will be time that people ask you to babysit. It could be family friends or your own relatives wanting a little help now and then. It’s easy to turn them down, but there could be many benefits for you to say yes.
You Get to See What Having a Family Is Like
For those couple of hours, you get to know what it’s like to have a family in your home. This is a great way to see if you’re ready to have children or whether it’s worth waiting for that little bit longer. While it’s not a true show of what it’s like to be parents, you can practise changing nappies, breaking up fights and finding something to do for the little ones.
It’s Something Fun
You’ll also feel that sense of pride when they’ve done something you’ve been trying to teach them. Of course, this does depend on the ages. If you’re babysitting young teenagers, they may just want to spend time in their room.
Give Your Imagination a Boost
As a child, you probably imagined all sorts of things. You flew to the moon or you built a castle with those cardboard boxes.
When you get older, your imagination takes a step back because of all the real-life stuff. Babysitting gives you the chance to give your imagination a boost again. You’ll be amazed at the ideas that small minds come up with.
Children Enjoy the Simple Things in Life
You’ve spent so long trying to find something for adults to do, you’ll be amazed by how simple it can be to keep children entertained.
Cardboard boxes are enough with their imaginations, or they may just enough the basic routine of warm milk and a story for bed time. It gives you a chance to relax and remember just how simple life was as a child.
Take a Break from Being a Grownup
You still need to have your grownup head on if there is an emergency, but in most cases you can get away from being a grownup for a few hours. You go into the world of a child, whether it’s playing with dolls or creating a made up world with them.
There’s no need to worry about tidying up until after the kids have gone to bed or their parents have picked them up.
You’ll Never Get Bored
There is always something going on around you. Children just don’t stop and their attention spans will only focus on one thing for a few minutes.
It keeps you entertained and you will never find a minute of babysitting boring. It can take some time to get used to though, especially if you’re used to spending hours on one task.
