Romantic Weekend Getaways in the Midwest

It’s time to leave the kids with grandma and grandpa! Grab your spouse, pack a light bag and get on the road. It might be hard to go far away for just a few days so but there is always somewhere for you to go to reconnect and spend some alone time with your significant other. These are some of the best quick getaway destinations in the Midwest:

1. The Wisconsin Dells

For the more historical couple, head to central Illinois. This mansion was built in 1869 and experienced visits from Eleanor Roosevelt and the Secretary of State, William Jennings Bryan.

7. Alpenhorn Gasthaus – Hermann, Missouri

This simple Bed and Breakfast was built in the 1860’s and is located amongst a patch of vineyard. Sit in the hot tub under the stars at night after a romantic dinner and have a bottle of wine from their large wine cellar.
