When he smells that scent again, he’s going to remember you and the feeling he had when he saw you. You’re instantly on his mind without having to do much. If you don’t like perfume, try using other powerful scents, like citric shampoos.

He wants you to choose what to eat at a restaurant; and even where to go to eat! He wants you to pick a DVD now and then, and will want to hear what you think about his outfit. Guys will always listen to their friends. If they like you, then he is going to like you too. But how do you manage that? It’s time to listen to them and strike up conversations with them.

You don’t need to be one of the guys, but showing an interest in the things they’re talking about will really help you. Give them something positive to say about you the next time he asks them about you.

It’s perfectly normal for people to look at the colour in the mirror in the store and trusting that that is how it looks normally. You’ve got to check the colours in the natural light.

Take it to a nearby window and then hold the mirror up. You may find that it is too dark or too light in that light; and that is the light most people will see you in.

As temperatures change, the skin is affected. It can dry out in the winter and glow during the summer. This affects the way that makeup will look during these changes.

Many people fail to think about how their skin can change and just by the same makeup over and over again. Check the colour and the type of makeup to make sure it suits you.

Whether you love the matt lipsticks or a glossy option, you need to give it time when trying. Put the lipstick on and then browse around the store for a few minutes.

Act as you normally would and then go back to see how the lipstick looks. Does it hold the colour? Is it fading already? This will give you an idea of how it will look after a few hours.

Foundations, eye makeup and even lipsticks usually come with tester options. If there’s no mirror, you’re likely going to test it on your hand to see what the actual colour looks like.

This doesn’t give you a real idea! The skin on your hands is completely different to the skin on your face. Your face will have more oils and often a slightly different colour. This affects the way the makeup looks.

Not Giving Perfume a Chance

When you’re buying a new perfume, do you quickly spray and smell to decide? This doesn’t tell you what people will smell after a few hours. It will be strong at first and the scent doesn’t have chance to settle.

Take your time to decide on a scent. Even take a walk outside and smell it afterwards to see how good it smells.

Not Checking Ingredients

Not all makeup and perfume is made the same. You need to check all the ingredients to make sure it is suitable for your skin and you are not allergic to it.

If you aren’t sure about the ingredient, check the name of it on your phone (most have internet now) to find out what it really is. The last thing you want is to get home and suffer a severe allergic reaction.

Think of the Type of Event

Is the event a posh, sit-down meal or are you going out with the girls? Are you going to an all-day wedding or is it the staff Christmas party?

The type of event you go to will affect the type of scent you wear. If you’re going out with the girls or another casual event, sweeter smells are often better.

However, you want stronger more neutral smells when it comes to business events or special occasions.

When are you likely to wear the perfume? During the day, you want a natural scent that doesn’t turn too many heads.

You need something suitable to wear at the office or out for lunch with your friends.

However, on a night, you can jazz the scent up. You can opt for the stronger fragrances and those that really pull the attention of others.

Try the Scents on a Card

To start with, try out the different scents on a card. This will help you find ones that appeal to your own style and those that you want to discard.

Have a different card for each scent and allow it to sit for a while. At first the scent will be overpowering but that’s not what others are going to smell on you!

Now Try Them on You

Once you find a couple that you like, it’s time to focus on trying them on your own skin. The scent can change dramatically due to the oils and natural smell of your skin compared to the card.

Choose a spot on your wrist or the back of your arm and use a completely different spot for each scent. It’s worth allowing the scents to sit on your skin for a few minutes.

Look for other things in the store while you decide on something.

Ask your friends and family members for their opinions. You can get small samples to try and see what they think at home or ask them to go shopping with you.

While you may love something, the majority of people may decide that it doesn’t suit you; or the even that you’re going to. Asking the staff members is fine but remember they’re there to sell!

Don’t Rely on the Brand

Just because you like one type of perfume from a brand doesn’t mean you’ll like them all. Don’t rely on the name to help you decide without smelling.

Try them to make sure they appeal to you and work for your needs!

Buy Small at First

Perfumes come in different sizes. If you’ve made your choice, buy the smaller option first and try it out over a period of time.

This will tell you whether it is worth the money and whether the scent remains similar throughout the day.
