What Type of Headache Do You Have?

Do you have a headache? Did you know that there are many reasons why you could suffer from a headache? Understanding more about your headaches will help you get rid of them and stop them reoccurring. Here are some of the more common reasons for headaches.

The Dehydration Headache

This happens because your body needs water—and it needs it yesterday! They are the most common types of headaches because people don’t realise just how little they are drinking or how much they are sweating.

The pain usually occurs across the front of the head and it can turn into a migraine if you’re not careful.

The Sinus Headache

When your sinuses are blocked, headaches are extremely common. These are often quite low down, around the eyes, nose and even as low as the cheekbones.

It could be due to a cold, allergies or even pregnancy related when everything in your body seems to swell. It is hard to do something about this type of headache. The trick is to cure the sinus problem and a bowl full of hot water is good for this.

The Sleepy Headache

If you don’t get enough sleep, your body will really start to suffer. Headaches are common, and usually occur around the side of the head. It could be a dull ache at first that gets worse throughout the day.

This is relatively easy to get rid of—you just need sleep! But of course, that is much easier said than done if you have a busy lifestyle. Look after yourself and focus on a healthy sleep schedule.

The Stress Headaches

Stress is a major factor in health problems and headaches are no different. The stress headache can come in short bursts, usually 30 seconds to a minute, which is really annoying.

They happen around the temples; usually on one side. If you are worried about them though, you should talk to a doctor. It’s hard to do much about these types of headaches. The best thing is to reduce your stress levels.

The Tension Headaches

These are extremely common and the one reason many adults will seek medical treatment. Tension headaches occur due to general lifestyle and are linked to poor diet, poor sleeping patterns and a bad boss. They often occur around the temples, similar to stress headaches.

The best way of dealing with these types of headaches is to find the underlying cause. Sleeping and diet you can do something about but your bad boss; that’s a little harder.

You may want to incorporate more exercise to try and release the body’s natural pain relief.

The Eye Headaches

Whether you’ve been staring at a computer screen for too long or your glasses aren’t strong enough, eye headaches are something to look out for.

You can usually tell it’s your eyes by the pain reducing when you shut them. You may also find that they only occur at certain times, like when trying to see something nearby or trying to look in the distance.
