Why You Should Not Work From Home

With so many people making a successful living working from home, it’s normal to wonder if you could do it too. There are certain types of people who are just not suitable for this type of work. You need to determine whether you are one of those people or not. There is nothing wrong with it. It just helps avoid complete destruction later on. Here are six reasons why working from home may not be for you.

You Need Someone to Tell You What to Do

How are you at taking the initiative? If you constantly need someone to tell you what to do, then you will find working from home a struggle. This is especially the case if you’re running your own business from home.

Some people just prefer being in employment where their boss or manager gives them directions every day.

Motivation Isn’t a Strong Point

How are you at motivating yourself to work? When you’re at home, it’s really easy to consider sitting around in your PJs and watching the TV. This is not getting the work done, and you will not make money doing this.

You need to actively pursue your opportunities, market your business and do the work that you have promised to do. If you can’t motivate yourself, you’ll find it very difficult to succeed.

You’re Disorganised

Disorganised people tend to find it harder to work from home. You won’t have the setup that you need, and the mess gets in the way every time you think about working.

This is more than just a cup being left on the desk or the paperwork that needs filing. Your whole life is in disorder, and there is always something better to do that working.

Productivity Isn’t a Strong Point Either

You need to be a productive person. Yes, there are hours in the day where rest is better, but you need to have those moments that you get everything you need doing.

This could be through making a list and working through it, or you may have apps that help you structure your day much quicker and easier.

You Prefer the Social Life of the Office

There’s nothing wrong with being a social person. However, working from home isn’t always suitable for that.

There is a lot of isolation since you don’t have your office friends to talk to throughout the day. While you could meet friends for lunch, that’s just one hour in the day. Then you’re waiting until others get home from school or work. Is that something you can deal with?

You Struggle With Interruptions

The good news is that this downside can be remedied. You can find ways to cut out the interruptions, so you don’t have to deal with as many. However, you need to be willing to put some blocks in to keep the interruptions to a minimum.

If you really struggle to deal with Facebook being a few clicks away or having access to your mobile phone all the time, working from home may not be for you.
